"Richard Fahey’s most recent art works can be seen as an allegory of story and style coming together to tackle the perplexing and the beauty beyond the dark. Where it seems that Fahey is processing his subject matter through an ever evolving paradigm, his use of veils, bandaids, and crossed out subject matter or text portray his involvement with his focus on what is both seen and unseen at the same time. These paintings compound story and text into levels of meaning underneath layers of carefully orchestrated wash to guide the observer through a process of understanding, movement, failure, transformation, and rebirth. While other decades contain a variety of style and composition, we now see Fahey making a bold choice in visual consistency. And as his visual grammar has evolved and escalated to what we see here, we are left with this chapter of acrylic paintings wanting more- we are left feeling that there is more, and that Fahey is not yet finished dancing with the subject matter in these paintings."
